Fire Prevention Week campaign materials donated by local State Farm agent

October 09,2023

For local State Farm agent Jeremy Hilton, keeping people safe is a large part of the job. That’s why Wednesday, Hilton donated a box of Fire Prevention Week campaign materials to the Enterprise Fire Department.

“We are so appreciative of the support from Jeremy, his family, and his business, year after year to help educate our community about the importance of fire prevention,” Enterprise Fire Battalion Chief Brian Beasley said. “This donation of Fire Prevention Week campaign materials will help us spread this year’s message of ‘Cooking safety starts with YOU. Pay attention to fire prevention.’”

Hilton said it’s important to educate people, especially youth, on the importance of fire safety.

“Fire Prevention Week is an opportunity to donate some things to our fire department so that they can help raise awareness about fire safety within homes in our community,” Hilton said.

The donation included posters, stickers, activity booklets, magnets, brochures, and more.

Beasley said the materials will be distributed to area schools during the month of October, coinciding with the annual Fire Prevention Week, which has been sponsored by the National Fire Protection Association since 1922. Mayor William E. Cooper signed a proclamation recognizing Oct. 8-14 as Fire Prevention Week in the City of Enterprise.

“I am a part of this community and I appreciate our first responders.  They’re the first ones out and so anything that we can do to help give back, to raise awareness about what they do is something that we want to be a part of,” Hilton said.
